Sara was born and raised in Casper, Wyoming. She completed her Associate Degree in Nursing at Casper College while working as a CNA in the operating room. She helped to build a neurosurgical program in Casper while earning the Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) credential. Her commitment to the nursing field brought her to earning her Master’s Degree at Walden University in 2020. As a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) for Memorial Hospital of Converse County, she works directly with Dr. Eric Schubert. Together they currently hold neurosurgical clinics in communities across the state. They are excited about growing MHCC’s Neurosurgical Program, and remain committed to serving patients across Wyoming.

Dr. Balcescu uses advanced 3D spinal navigation and robotics to provide cutting-edge, minimally invasive treatments. He is skilled in motion-preserving disc replacement. While practicing in Wyoming, he developed a keen interest in revision surgeries, failed back syndrome, and complex spine cases. Dr. Balcescu offers various procedures for cervical, lumbar, and spinal deformity conditions, always aiming to provide the most effective and least invasive options for his patients.

Dr. Eric Schubert is a Board Certified Physician of the American Board of Neurological Surgery and a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the North American Spine Society. Dr. Schubert attended the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA. He completed his residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC and worked for seven years as a Neurological Spine Surgeon in Virginia, Montana and most recently at Mountain View Regional Hospital in Casper, Wyoming prior to joining Memorial Hospital of Converse County. Dr. Schubert holds clinics in Casper, Gillette, and Riverton and performs surgeries in Douglas and Gillette.
