Downtown Casper has plenty of places to explore, but a self-guided scavenger hunt is giving locals and visitors a new way to experience some of the city's familiar landmarks.
Cultural Casper, a scavenger hunt created by Let’s Roam, takes participants on a 1.32-mile walking adventure through downtown. The app-guided experience features nine stops and combines sightseeing with trivia, riddles, photo challenges and interactive activities.
The experience is designed to be completed at the participant's own pace. A typical hunt takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, and groups can begin whenever they are ready.
Exploring Downtown Through a Different Lens
The adventure begins at 200 N. David Street and takes participants to several recognizable locations around downtown Casper.
Stops along the route include the Nicolaysen Art Museum, Casper City Hall, Natrona County Courthouse, Chief Washakie Statue, Federal Building, Natrona County Library, Fire Station Number 1, Rialto Theater and Masonic Temple.
At each stop, participants use the Let’s Roam app to complete challenges, answer trivia and take part in photo activities. The experience encourages teams to pay attention to the details around them while learning more about the places they are visiting.
Instead of simply walking from one landmark to another, participants earn points as they complete challenges, adding a little friendly competition to the downtown outing.
An Activity for Friends, Families and Couples
Because the scavenger hunt is self-guided, there is no set tour schedule to follow. Groups can choose when they want to start and can even pause the experience if they want to spend additional time exploring an area along the route.
The activity can work for a variety of groups, whether friends looking for something different to do, families exploring downtown together or couples searching for an interactive date activity.
Children can also participate, with the app offering roles and challenges designed to keep younger members involved. Participants should have a smartphone available and wear comfortable shoes for the walking route.
Discovering the Details of Downtown Casper
One of the highlights of the experience is its focus on places that are already part of Casper's downtown landscape.
For residents, that can mean taking a closer look at landmarks they may have passed many times. For visitors, it offers an interactive introduction to several locations that help tell the story of downtown Casper.
The hunt is currently available through January 3, 2027, giving people plenty of opportunities to fit the experience into a day downtown.
Whether you're exploring Casper with family, meeting up with friends or simply looking for a different way to spend an afternoon, Cultural Casper offers a chance to turn a walk through downtown into a game of discovery.
