Casper Welcomes Janine Jordan as New City Manager

Seasoned Leader Returns to Hometown to Guide City's Future

Janine Jordan, a native of Casper, has been appointed as the city's new city manager, bringing over two decades of municipal leadership experience back to her hometown.

Mayor Ray Pacheco announced the decision, highlighting Jordan's extensive background and dedication to public service. "We interviewed four strong candidates, two of whom are Casper employees," Pacheco stated. "It was not an easy decision. Ultimately, we decided Janine Jordan's 20-plus years of experience in the role of city manager was what we wanted for Casper."

Jordan has served as the city manager of Laramie since 2007, overseeing governmental and enterprise budgets exceeding $130 million. Her tenure in Laramie was marked by a commitment to efficiency, innovation, and interdepartmental teamwork, qualities she aims to bring to Casper.

Reflecting on her return, Jordan expressed enthusiasm: "I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the community where I grew up. Casper holds a special place in my heart, and I look forward to working collaboratively with city staff and residents to continue building a vibrant and thriving city."

Interim City Manager Zulima Lopez, who has been serving since the departure of former City Manager Carter Napier, will continue in her role until Jordan assumes her duties in late December or early January. Lopez conveyed her support for the transition, stating, "It is with genuine excitement that I welcome City Manager Jordan as she joins our Casper team. Her extensive background, experience, and dedication to public service will serve as invaluable assets to our city, and I look forward to learning from her."

City Attorney Eric Nelson, another finalist for the position, will continue as the city's legal counsel. Nelson expressed his commitment to collaboration: "I was truly honored to be considered for the City Manager position. I look forward to supporting and collaborating with our new City Manager, especially with initiatives and projects that enhance our organization and community."

Mayor Pacheco acknowledged the strength of the internal candidates, stating, "It is a testament to the dedicated staff we have at the City that we have two people who qualified for the city manager position and who Council seriously considered. It is also a testament that, though they were not selected, are committed to Casper and working collaboratively with Janine."

Jordan's appointment comes at a pivotal time for Casper, as the city continues to grow and evolve. Her leadership is anticipated to bring fresh perspectives and strategies to address the community's needs and aspirations.

Residents are encouraged to participate in upcoming community forums where Jordan will outline her vision for Casper and engage with citizens to gather input and feedback.

As the city prepares for this new chapter, the collective focus remains on fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes the well-being and prosperity of all Casper residents.
