The Casper City Council has approved the purchase of a new 16-passenger, ADA-compliant bus for Casper Area Transit, replacing an older vehicle that has reached the end of its operational life. The new bus will ensure continued accessibility for all riders and strengthen the reliability of the city’s transit services.

Funding for the project comes through the Wyoming Department of Transportation’s Local Coordination Office, which administers state and federal transit grants. A local cost share from the City of Casper has already been budgeted for fiscal year 2026.

This purchase is part of a broader effort to modernize the city’s public-transportation fleet. In recent years, the council has approved additional low-floor, lift-equipped buses for the LINK fixed-route service, improving efficiency and comfort for passengers.

At the same time, the city has implemented an electronic fare system to simplify payments and enhance rider convenience. The new setup replaces traditional tickets and tokens with the E-Pass for ASSIST services and the Scan Pass for LINK routes, offering a faster, contactless way to ride.

Together, these upgrades reflect Casper’s continued commitment to building a safe, accessible, and modern transit system that meets the needs of every member of the community.
