According to the Casper Police Department, officers responded around 2 a.m. today to the 300 block of West F Street after receiving a report of a potential water rescue.
The caller reported that he and his brother, both adults, had been consuming alcohol and smoking marijuana when they accidentally fell into the river.
The reporting party managed to reach the shore and alert authorities, but his brother, identified as 37-year-old Dexter Fightingbear of Casper, did not make it to safety.
Officers located the caller, but Fightingbear remains unaccounted for.
Immediate search efforts were launched by multiple agencies, utilizing foot patrols, drones, and boats.
However, limited visibility forced a suspension of operations until sunrise.
With daylight, the coordinated search and rescue operation resumed, involving specialized equipment and personnel from various agencies.
