New Agreement Enhances Collaboration on Downtown Plaza Operations |
The City of Casper is set to take on specific maintenance and operational duties at David Street Station, marking a new chapter in the partnership between the city and the downtown plaza.
Historically, David Street Station has functioned independently, with the city owning the land but not participating in its daily operations. This arrangement is evolving as the city steps in to provide technical support for essential mechanical systems, including the splash pad, ice plant, and irrigation infrastructure.
Under the revised agreement, the city will allocate up to $500 annually for irrigation materials. Additionally, city personnel will offer in-kind services such as tree maintenance and the operation of the splash pad, ensuring these amenities remain in optimal condition for public enjoyment.
This collaboration follows the recent acquisition of a permanent ice rink chiller by David Street Station, a significant upgrade from previous years when chillers were rented seasonally. The new chiller, funded through dedicated fundraising efforts, allows for an extended skating season, providing more opportunities for community engagement and recreation.
David Street Station continues to be a vibrant hub for Casper, hosting a variety of events throughout the year. Recent highlights include the annual 'Monster Mash' Halloween event, which featured trick-or-treating, games, and performances by local dance groups, and the 'Summer Market' series, showcasing local vendors, live music, and food trucks.
By integrating city resources with the station's operations, this partnership aims to enhance the maintenance and functionality of David Street Station, ensuring it remains a cherished gathering place for the Casper community. |
