A Letter to the Makers, Dreamers, and Last-Minute Shoppers

There are some events that check boxes…
and then there are events that remind you why local matters.

The Procrastinators Unite Expo was one of those moments.

Held just days before Christmas, this wasn’t simply a “last-minute shopping event.” It was a room full of creativity, courage, and community — where crafters, artists, authors, and small businesses came together and turned pressure into possibility.

The place was packed.
Not rushed. Not stressed.
Packed with people genuinely excited to discover something real.

Tables were filled with handmade goods, original artwork, thoughtful gifts, and stories behind every product. Authors stood proudly beside their books, meeting readers face-to-face. Makers explained their process. Shoppers slowed down. Conversations happened. Connections were made.

This expo proved something important:

Local creators show up — especially when it matters most.
Casper shows up for them.

For many shoppers (myself included), this was the perfect reminder that the best gifts aren’t pulled from a shelf — they’re created by neighbors who take risks, pour heart into their work, and show up even when the calendar is stacked against them.

And for the vendors?
This wasn’t just a booth.
It was a stage.

A chance to be seen.
A chance to be supported.
A chance to close the year strong.

To the organizers who pulled this together so close to the holidays — thank you for creating space where small businesses could shine. To every crafter, artist, and author who loaded their vehicles, set up their tables, and believed in this event — thank you for trusting Casper with your work.

This is what a community-powered economy looks like.

And if this expo was any indication, Casper isn’t just ready for local —
Casper is hungry for it.
