Natrona County Library Is Becoming a Key Resource for Casper Small Businesses

The Natrona County Library is quickly becoming one of the most valuable — and most overlooked — business resources in Natrona County. What once functioned mostly as a traditional library has expanded into a space that now supports entrepreneurs, freelancers, creators, and small business owners with tools that rival a coworking center.

If you run a small business in Natrona County, you might be paying for things the library already offers—often for free.

In recent years, the Natrona County Library has quietly built out a full Business Center on its second floor, including two sound-dampening Business Center Pods. These powered rooms are designed specifically for solo or small-group business use (1–4 people) and are free to reserve. They’re ideal for focused calls, virtual meetings, client conversations, or uninterrupted laptop work—without fighting for space in a noisy coffee shop.

Beyond the pods, the library maintains six small meeting and study rooms across the main and second floors. These rooms can be reserved up to 30 days in advance, with up to four hours of total reservation time and a maximum of two hours per day. Reservations must be used within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time or they may be released to others, ensuring fair access for all patrons.

For larger gatherings, the Crawford Room offers space for up to 180 people standing or 115 seated. Nonprofits can use the room at no charge, while for-profit businesses pay a low $10-per-hour fee. Tables, chairs, a podium, projector, and screen are included, and groups are permitted to bring refreshments or catered food as long as cleanup is handled.

Technology is another area where the library shines. Patrons have access to free high-speed Wi-Fi, desktop computers, printing and copying services, and faxing. Chromebooks can be checked out for in-library use for up to four hours, while mobile Wi-Fi hotspots can be checked out for up to two weeks and taken home or used for travel.

For creators and product developers, the library’s Creation Station makerspace provides free access to tools such as 3D printers, a Glowforge laser cutter, a Cricut Maker, sewing and embroidery machines, and various crafting tools. Most equipment is free to use, with time limits in place during busy hours.

The library also operates The Studio, a professional-quality video and podcasting room equipped with cameras, lighting, green screen, and audio gear for up to two hosts. Patrons can record high-quality video or podcast content at no cost, with staff available to help users get started.

Beyond physical tools, the library offers extensive digital resources for entrepreneurs. Cardholders can access business databases, sample business plans, market research, and professional training programs such as LinkedIn Learning. The library’s “Book-a-Librarian” service provides one-on-one assistance with research, business planning, and using online tools, while the Wyoming Library to Business program connects entrepreneurs with statewide resources and support.

The library’s growing impact on local organizations has been recognized—most notably when it received the Casper Area Chamber of Commerce’s “Community Partner of the Year” award for its support of the business community.

For entrepreneurs, freelancers, home-based businesses, and anyone operating on a tight budget, the Natrona County Library has become an accessible, cost-effective hub for professional infrastructure. Much of what business owners typically pay for—workspace, technology, creative tools, internet access, training, and meeting rooms—is already available to them right here in Casper.
