Rib & Chop House in Casper to Close Its Doors After Six Years |
Downtown Casper's beloved steakhouse announces closure amid ongoing challenges |
After six years of serving the Casper community, the Rib & Chop House located at 256 S. Center Street will permanently close on December 31, 2025.
Owner Chris O’Bryan cited financial difficulties stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic as the primary reason for the closure.
“We opened in December of 2019, and COVID hit just a couple months later,” O’Bryan explained.
“We were a brand-new business that had barely gotten its legs under it, and we never fully recovered.”
He noted that customer numbers dropped to about half of pre-pandemic levels and did not fully rebound.
Reflecting on the past six years, O’Bryan highlighted the restaurant’s involvement in various fundraisers and community events as some of his most cherished memories.
“Whether it was raising money for a local organization or helping support something in the community we believe in, that’ll always be at the top of the list,” he said.
To bid farewell, the Rib & Chop House plans to host a New Year’s Eve party on its final day of operation.
The event will feature live music, a DJ, a buffet, and a variety of drink options.
“We want to go out with a bang, celebrating with our staff and customers,” O’Bryan stated.
He also emphasized that the closure of the Casper location will not affect the restaurant’s other Wyoming locations in Cheyenne, Gillette, Laramie, and Sheridan.
The Rib & Chop House has been a staple in downtown Casper, known for its premium steaks, fresh seafood, and award-winning baby back ribs.
Its departure marks a significant change in the local dining scene.
As the community prepares to say goodbye to this beloved establishment, downtown Casper continues to thrive with a variety of events and new businesses.
In August 2025, the 5150’ Festival celebrated all things Casper, featuring local vendors, live music, and family-friendly activities at David Street Station.
Additionally, the WYlder Festival, held from May 30 to June 1, 2025, brought together citizens, businesses, and artists to explore community stewardship and celebrate Wyoming’s landscapes and people.
These events, along with the upcoming Downtown Casper Christmas Parade on December 6, 2025, showcase the vibrant spirit of the area.
As the Rib & Chop House prepares to close its doors, the Casper community looks forward to new opportunities and experiences that continue to enrich downtown life. |
