A Thursday Night Made for Making Something |
Step away from the usual routine and spend an evening creating at The Nicolaysen Art Museum. |

Thursday evenings can easily become forgettable.
The workweek is still going, the weekend isn't quite here, and the usual routine can start to feel like something you're simply moving through.
But tonight offers a chance to do something different.
Instead of heading straight home after work, why not spend a couple of hours surrounded by art, learning something new, and creating something of your own?
On Thursday, August 13, The Nicolaysen Art Museum is hosting an instructor-led adult art night from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, giving adults 18 and older an opportunity to step away from the everyday and spend an evening being creative.
A Different Kind of Thursday NightYou don't have to be an experienced artist to enjoy an evening like this.
In fact, that's part of the appeal.
An instructor-led art night gives you the opportunity to explore something new without having to figure everything out on your own. You can follow along, learn new artistic skills, and see what happens when you give yourself permission to simply make something.
There is no pressure for the evening to become a masterpiece.
It's about the experience.
The process.
And perhaps discovering that you enjoy creating more than you thought you did.
Come for the Art, Stay for the AtmosphereThe event takes place inside The Nicolaysen Art Museum, giving participants the opportunity to spend their evening surrounded by art while working on their own creative experience.
Light refreshments will be provided, and guests are welcome to BYOB, adding an even more relaxed element to the evening.
It creates a different kind of social experience, one where conversation can happen naturally while everyone's hands are busy creating.
You can come with a friend.
You can meet someone new.
Or you can simply come by yourself and give yourself two hours away from the usual routine.
A Little Time for YourselfThere's something valuable about doing something simply because you enjoy it.
Not because it needs to go on your résumé.
Not because it has to be productive.
Not because you have to be good at it.
Just because you want to try.
Creative activities can give us a reason to slow down and pay attention to what we're doing in the moment. For a couple of hours, the notifications, errands, deadlines, and responsibilities can wait.
Tonight can simply be about making something.
An Evening for AdultsThe art night is designed for guests 18 and older, making it an opportunity for adults to enjoy a creative evening in a relaxed setting.
Admission is $25 for museum members and $35 for non-members, with light refreshments included.
And because the evening runs from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, it fits neatly into a Thursday night without taking over your entire evening.
You can finish work, head to the museum, spend a couple of hours creating, and still have plenty of night left afterward.
Tonight, Try Something DifferentSometimes we don't need another big plan.
We just need something that breaks the pattern.
Tonight, that could mean picking up an art supply instead of your phone.
Learning something instead of scrolling.
Talking to people instead of rushing home.
And leaving the museum with something you made yourself.
The Nicolaysen Art Museum's adult art night takes place tonight, Thursday, August 13, from 5:30–7:30 PM. Admission is $25 for members and $35 for non-members, with light refreshments provided. Guests 18 and older are welcome, and BYOB is permitted.
If you've been waiting for a reason to try something creative, perhaps this is it.
