Battle for the Boot Brings Casper Businesses Together for a Three-Day Test of Skill and Teamwork

Casper’s inaugural 307 Corporate Games begin October 1, challenging local businesses and organizations to trade the office for the arena, court and course in a spirited battle for the coveted Battle for the Boot trophy.

Forget the conference room. This October, Casper’s business community is taking its competition to the playing field.

The Battle for the Boot: 307 Corporate Games makes its debut October 1–3, bringing employees from local businesses and nonprofit organizations together for three days of challenges, friendly rivalry and team-building at the WYO Sports Ranch and YMCA of Natrona County.

The event is being organized by the two facilities as a new way to bring Casper’s business community together through sport. Teams will compete throughout the three-day competition, collecting points along the way with one goal in mind: bringing home the boot.

And the competition is designed to test more than just one athletic skill.

Participants will take on a variety of individual challenges and team events, with activities ranging from cornhole, pickleball, basketball-related competitions and golf challenges to functional fitness, volleyball skills and other athletic events. The lineup gives employees with different strengths an opportunity to contribute, whether they are competitive athletes or simply ready to try something new with their coworkers.

The first day begins with Opening Ceremonies at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, October 1, at WYO Sports Ranch, officially kicking off the weekend.

Friday brings the competition into full swing. Individual challenges will be held at both WYO Sports Ranch and the YMCA, while the day's team events will take place at the YMCA of Natrona County.

On Saturday, teams return to competition before the weekend closes with Closing Ceremonies at WYO Sports Ranch.

For the businesses taking part, the experience is about more than accumulating points.

A team of coworkers can spend all week working toward the same deadlines, but stepping onto a court or into a challenge together creates a completely different kind of interaction. Employees who may normally see one another across desks suddenly find themselves depending on each other, cheering each other on and figuring out how to compete as a group.

That is where the community side of the event really comes through.

The Battle for the Boot gives Casper businesses a chance to meet one another in a setting that has nothing to do with sales calls or meetings. It is an opportunity to build relationships, encourage coworkers and create some healthy competition between organizations that are normally focused on their own day-to-day work.

And, of course, there is a trophy involved.

The Battle for the Boot traveling trophy gives the three-day competition a tangible prize, but the bigger prize may be the experience of bringing employees together and creating a little excitement around the workplace.

Teams consist of 6–9 employees, with participants required to be 18 or older.

Registration for the inaugural competition is $675 for corporate teams and $500 for nonprofit teams. An Opening Ceremony dinner is available separately for $30 per person.

The organizers are also encouraging businesses to get involved while spots remain available, making this a chance for companies to put together a team, represent their organization and see how they stack up against fellow Casper businesses.

For a community known for showing up for one another, the idea feels right at home.

There will be competition, of course. Someone will keep score. Someone will want the boot badly.

But there will also be coworkers laughing together, teammates encouraging one another and local organizations sharing the same playing field.

That is what makes the Battle for the Boot more than a corporate competition.

It is three days of Casper businesses getting out of the office, getting active and getting to know the people who help make this community work.

And when the final points are counted, one team gets to take the boot home.

For everyone else, there will be plenty of stories to take back to work on Monday.
