Tomorrow, Casper is going to get a little more colorful, a little more playful and, fittingly, a whole lot more Dolly.

On Friday, September 25, the community will come together for Casper’s Dolly Day, a full-day celebration inspired by Dolly Parton’s music, creativity, generosity and love of helping others. The event will bring activities, local businesses, families and Dolly fans together throughout downtown Casper, with proceeds going toward an important local cause.

The celebration runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., beginning with programming connected to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at the Natrona County Library. It is a fitting place to begin a day centered around imagination, especially through a program that helps put books into the hands of children.

From there, the celebration heads downtown.

One of the day's most memorable moments will be the Dolly Dash, a parade of Dolly look-alikes making their way down Second Street. It is the kind of event that invites people to have fun with the theme, get creative and simply enjoy seeing their community come together for something a little different.

The day will also feature a Dolly Dally through downtown, encouraging visitors to stroll through participating businesses, discover local shops and enjoy the different activities taking place along the way.

Expect plenty of opportunities to stop, browse and have a little fun. Participating businesses will offer special discounts and drink specials, while food trucks will add another reason to stay downtown and make an afternoon of it.

And, of course, no Dolly celebration would feel quite complete without a little singing.

The day will eventually make its way to City Works, where the celebration will continue with Dolly karaoke, look-alike and sound-alike contests, and prizes.

But underneath all the fun is something even more meaningful.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from Casper’s Dolly Day will benefit the new Casper Youth Hub, helping support a local space created to give young people opportunities to connect, create, learn and grow.

That gives the celebration a purpose that reaches well beyond one day.

A parade, a local shopping stroll, a food truck, a karaoke microphone and a room full of people having fun may seem like separate pieces, but together they create something that matters in a community: people choosing to show up for one another.

Casper’s Dolly Day also feels like a celebration of the kind of community Casper can be. A place where local businesses participate, where people are encouraged to be creative, where families can find something to enjoy and where a day of fun can ultimately help build something positive for young people.

So tomorrow, put on a little sparkle. Grab your friends. Bring the family. Embrace the Dolly spirit.

Walk downtown. Shop local. Sing loudly. Cheer for the look-alikes. And enjoy knowing that every part of the day is helping support something being built for Casper’s next generation.
