Tonight, Casper has an opportunity to do something simple that can still make a meaningful difference: show up, laugh together and help support a local cause.

Comedy That Cares takes the stage tonight, Thursday, September 17, at The Rialto Casper, bringing comedians Reem Edan and Dom Syracuse to Casper for an evening of live comedy with a charitable purpose. Proceeds from the event will benefit Community Action Partnership of Natrona and Converse Counties’ Health Care for the Homeless program.

The event begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m., at 100 E. 2nd Street in downtown Casper.

For the people attending, it may simply feel like a fun night away from the usual routine. But behind the evening is a reminder of something important: communities become stronger when people find ways to help one another.

For individuals experiencing homelessness, getting access to health care can involve obstacles that many people never have to consider. Programs serving this population help connect people with care and other resources during times when they may need that support most.

That makes a fundraiser like Comedy That Cares more than an entertaining night on the calendar. It gives local residents a way to contribute while doing something many people already enjoy: spending time with friends, sharing a few laughs and being part of the Casper community.

And perhaps that is what makes community fundraisers especially meaningful. Giving back does not always have to happen through a large gesture. Sometimes, it can begin with buying a ticket, inviting someone along and deciding that your night out can also help someone else.

Tonight’s event brings that idea to one of Casper’s historic downtown gathering places, The Rialto, where the audience will come together for an evening of comedy while supporting work happening right here in the community.
