Josh Allen, the reigning NFL MVP and quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, is set to have his No. 17 jersey retired by the University of Wyoming during a halftime ceremony on November 22, 2025, as the Cowboys face Nevada at War Memorial Stadium.
This marks the first time in the university's history that a player's jersey will be retired, underscoring Allen's significant impact on the program.
During his tenure at Wyoming from 2015 to 2017, Allen led the team to consecutive eight-win seasons and two bowl appearances.
He amassed 5,066 passing yards, 767 rushing yards, and accounted for 57 touchdowns.
His performance earned him second-team All-Mountain West Conference honors in 2016.
In a video message to fans, Allen expressed his excitement: "I'm excited to announce that I will be returning to the University of Wyoming Nov. 22 against the University of Nevada. Excited to be back in Laramie. Go Pokes."
Allen's journey from an unheralded junior college player to an NFL star has been nothing short of remarkable.

University of Wyoming Athletic Director Tom Burman highlighted Allen's significance: "Josh is the most high-profile ambassador the University of Wyoming has ever had."
Allen's return to Laramie is highly anticipated, with fans eager to celebrate his achievements and the lasting legacy he has left on Wyoming football.
His story continues to inspire, demonstrating the heights that can be reached with determination and hard work. |
