Quote Of The Day

"Life is short, live it. Love is rare, grab it. Anger is bad, dump it. Fear is awful, face it. Memories are sweet, cherish them."

Casper’s annual “Tailgate for a Cause” will bring together football fans and community members to honor local veterans on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

The event hosted by Honoring 307 Heroes at the Best Western Downtown celebrates Wyoming pride while raising funds for Wreaths Across America.

Donations and ticket sales help ensure every veteran in Natrona County is remembered with a wreath this December.

This local nonprofit, founded by volunteers, seeks to remember, honor, and teach through direct action and education.

All proceeds go toward wreath purchases and supporting community ceremonies, where residents can gather to place wreaths and share stories on December 13 at four Casper sites.

The event highlights the strong bond in Casper, uniting neighbors to pay tribute to the sacrifices of local service members and keep their memory alive.

Trivia Questionâť“

In what year was Casper, Wyoming officially incorporated as a city?

Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

Casper is gearing up for several city initiatives and upcoming events.

City staff are streamlining council meeting packets, offering bookmark and search tools to make sense of the massive 400–500 page documents, and expect an especially large agenda for next week.

Casper is bidding to host the 2026 Wyoming Historic Preservation Conference, hoping to attract 75–125 visitors and statewide attention to local heritage assets by securing grant funding.

A grant from the Arbor Day Foundation will fund the planting of 79 trees and shrubs at Sage Park, creating a living, educational arboretum with signage expected in summer 2026.

Holiday work sessions will shift, with no meetings Thanksgiving week or December 23, and alternative dates scheduled around Veterans Day and year-end holidays.

Neighborhood updates include a possible roundabout near Robertson and Poison Spider, new tourism pushes, golf course growth, and a focus on civility in community discussions.

Mills City Council tackled major community issues at its October 28, 2025 meeting, including rezoning, a park name change, and ongoing efforts for a unique ZIP code.

The council heard spirited debate over rezoning Mountain Meadows Subdivision No. 2, Lot 2A from Urban Agriculture to Residential One, allowing for single-family homes.

While city staff supported the change, residents such as Donald Oaks and Francis Ackley raised concerns about drainage, flooding, and construction impacts.

Despite objections, the ordinance passed its first reading and will face further review.

Council also advanced the renaming of Mills Memorial Park to Service and Sacrifice Park, honoring local veterans and first responders.

Additionally, resolutions supporting a unique Mills ZIP code were approved, reflecting the city’s push for a distinct identity.

Residents can comment as the ordinances move to second readings at future meetings.

Evansville Mayor Candace Machado has resigned after five years of service, citing a “broken political system” and reinforcing her commitment to transparency in an emotional farewell.

In her public statement, Machado reflected on significant town accomplishments, including a balanced budget, the celebrated 100-Year Town anniversary, a community garden, a new park playground, animal shelter, expanded mental-health support for employees, and establishing a code of ethics.

She also noted new grants and infrastructure that brought neighbors together in Evansville.

However, Machado strongly criticized persistent discrimination, bigotry, and a culture of silence within local government, declaring she could not stay in a system resistant to reform.

She will continue as a social worker, activist, and business owner, vowing to inspire and speak honestly.

The Town Council has not yet announced plans to fill the mayoral vacancy.

🎣 Natrona County Fishing Report

Updated the Week of October 27, 2025

North Platte River: Grey Reef · Miracle Mile · Fremont Canyon
Reservoirs: Pathfinder · Alcova

North Platte River – Grey Reef

Conditions:
Flows holding near ~500 CFS, clear to lightly tinted. Classic late-October vibe — cold mornings, mild afternoons, and browns on the move.

What’s Working:

  • Nymphs: leeches (olive/brown), Pheasant Tails, RS2s, Spanish Perdigons (sizes 18–20)

  • Dries: foam-wing, BWO, and Trico emergers on calm mornings

  • Streamers: Rusty-T, Goldie, Thin Mint, small sculpin — best under cloud cover or toward dusk

Tactics:

  • Early: dry-dropper (hopper or ant to RS2/PT) along soft edges

  • Midday: light-shot indicator rigs with natural bugs; target shelves and inside seams

  • Evening: swing or strip streamers through deeper seams and undercuts with a slow retrieve

Miracle Mile

Conditions:
Flows steady around 530–560 CFS with clear water and consistent activity. Morning Trico and BWO hatches continue, though wind gusts can be a factor.

What’s Working:

  • Morning: Trico and BWO dries, small attractors

  • Deep nymphing: RS2s, CDC Pheasant Tails, and Perdigons (sizes 18–22)

  • Streamers: small articulated or jig-style patterns during overcast

Tactics:
Fish tailouts and current breaks early. By midday, focus on seams and eddies using light presentations for clear water.

Fremont Canyon (Cardwell)

Conditions:
Flows near 80 CFS and crystal clear. Fish are tight to rock structure and deep slots — stealth and precision matter most.

What’s Working:

  • Tiny nymphs: zebra midges, RS2s, and slim mayfly nymphs (sizes 20–24)

  • Subtle dry-dropper rigs in soft lanes

  • Short, accurate drifts near rock edges and undercuts

Tactics:
Stay low, quiet, and deliberate. Long leaders and fine tippet make a big difference here.

Alcova Reservoir

Conditions:
Surface temps around 52°F. The fall drawdown has lowered levels about 10 feet, so watch shallow structure and ramps. Good mix of trout, browns, and walleye.

What’s Working:

  • Low light: spoons, spinners, and jigs on rocky points and shorelines

  • Midday: trolling crankbaits or slow-rolling soft plastics 15–25 ft deep

  • Shore anglers doing well near marina coves and submerged rock shelves

Pathfinder Reservoir

Conditions:
Surface temps holding around 51°F. Trout and walleye are suspended deeper as the days shorten. Stable bite pattern.

What’s Working:

  • Trolling spoons or diver plugs across drop-offs and creek channels

  • Jigging in 20–30 ft near structure

  • Best action early morning and dusk near the dam and Goose Bay
